Practical AI for real-world problems

I’m William Webster. After more than forty years in banking, treasury, risk and consulting, I now use that experience to explore what artificial intelligence can do in practice.

I apply AI to genuine problems: researching issues, analysing evidence, testing options, improving correspondence and creating practical tools. The purpose is not to promote AI for its own sake. It is to establish where it can save time, improve thinking and help us make better decisions—and where experience and human judgement remain essential.

Much of the work begins with something I have encountered myself. I explain the problem, the evidence, the contribution made by AI, the decisions I took and what others might learn from the result. These projects become articles, case studies and useful resources.

My earlier work on treasury and risk management remains available as an archive. It continues to inform how I think about money, risk, organisations and decision-making.

This is primarily a personal project, although some of the work may develop into practical tools, workshops or advisory assignments. Above all, I want the site to be useful to people interested in applying AI sensibly to real life and work.
