Dealer - Financial Structuring Team

About Yorkshire Building Society

Established in 1884 Yorkshire Building Society is the 2nd largest UK building society with 2.8 million members, 178 branches and 3,133 employees. The balance sheet is dominated by UK prime residential mortgages and retail deposits. In H1 2010 total assets amounted to £31bn. The Society has a strong capital base and a healthy funding and liquidity position with no direct exposure to sovereign risk outside the UK.

The Role: Working with the Financial Structuring team in managing the structural financing activities of the Society and undertaking dealing activity in wholesale financial markets.

You will work with other members of the Financial Structuring team to:

  • Contribute towards the delivery of the financial structuring objectives;
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial structuring models for the analysis of retail savings products;
  • Determine appropriate structures and pricing information for a range of hedging and funding solutions, (covered bonds, securitisation, whole loan sales);
  • Work with other areas of the business to ensure capital market funding techniques and costs are appropriately factored into retail product design and product pricing decisions;
  • Provide analysis for acquisition and divestment opportunities;
  • Optimise the use of mortgage collateral in funding structures;
  • Control interest rate, currency & counterparty credit risk and ensure limit compliance;
  • Contribute towards the decision making process within Treasury and the formulation of interest rate & financial structuring strategies;
  • Develop the Society’s reputation within the wholesale markets;
  • Develop financial structuring relationships with leading wholesale market counterparts;
  • Develop appropriate technical and core skills to be a participant in an effective, flexible and multi-skilled dealing unit.

Experience required:

  • You will have relevant experience and in-depth knowledge of wholesale financial markets;
  • You will be preferably educated to degree standard and/or hold an appropriate professional qualification;
  • You will be numerate with good IT and interpersonal communication skills;
  • This role requires significant travel.
